Housing Needs Reports are now mandatory for all local governments in British Columbia. These reports include recommendations for future housing development, meaning they have the potential to impact health and well-being. Using our newly-released Healthy Housing Action Guide as a starting point, this pre-recorded webinar outlines new government regulations, the UBCM funding program, and some of the ways local governments, health authorities and community partners can integrate health and equity into housing processes in their communities.
The Town of Smithers’ Newcomers Recreation and Healthy Eating Accessibility Project partnered with community leaders to build a program that promotes social inclusion by creating a safe space to understand the local culture and try new things.
Provides immigrants and newcomers to British Columbia with information on immigrating to, living, and working in the province. A series of guides to everyday life (e.g., manage your money), a service-finding search list, and BC Newcomers’ Guide are among the tools available on the website. Also contains information on the diversity and immigration statistics for communities based on the Statistics Canada Census.
