Squamish will receive more than $119,372 in BikeBC funding this year for a cycling infrastructure project that will involve the extension of the Squamish Corridor Trail via Rose Park. The trail will serve as a commuter connection for residents, an attraction for visitors and an important piece of the work Squamish is doing on making active transportation accessible to all community members.

Victoria | The PlanH program has confirmed support for 24 communities through the Healthy Communities Capacity Building Fund (HCCBF).
The HCCBF is for local governments in BC who are leading the way in creating the conditions that enable healthy people and healthy places – in partnership with regional health authorities and other key community stakeholders.

On May 2nd, 2016, sixty delegates representing local governments, the health sector, First Nations, and community groups gathered in the City of Dawson Creek for the Northern Region Healthy Communities Forum. This forum is the fourth in a series of five forums taking place in each health authority region to take stock of: the impacts of collaborative efforts between local governments, health authorities, and other community partners; the key factors that are enabling this success; and how we can grow this impact moving forward.
The Healthy Built Environment Linkages Toolkit (the Toolkit) links five features of the built environment (housing, neighbourhood design, food, transportation, and natural environments) with health outcomes. The Toolkit workshops animate and activate the Toolkit by getting people together in a shared learning experience, to explore the Toolkit together by applying it to projects, plans and issues that matter to them in their community or region.<
