Columbia Institute’s Centre for Civic Governance is pleased to announce that our 2019 Centre for Civic Governance Forum will take place in Harrison Hot Springs from Friday, March 29 to Saturday, March 30.
At this special 26.5 hour event, which will take place under the banner of “Rising to the Challenge,” we aim to develop a deeper understanding of the issues shaping our times and to provide insights on how to build more inclusive, sustainable communities. There are also plenty of opportunities to network with colleagues!
We know that every development creates a place but what is seldom asked is whether or not that development has a positive, neutral or negative impact on the social, physical and cultural well-being of that community. Drawing on guidelines and resources from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)'s toolkit, this webinar will outline how to measure health inequalities and report on indicators by subpopulations defined by equity stratifiers (i.e., sociodemographic variables) such as income and education.
This webinar will discuss the relationship between population health and proximity to resources (parks, supermarkets, community centres, etc.) that impact our daily life. Drawing on solid scientific knowledge, speakers will explain the correlation between the physical and mental health status of urban populations and housing conditions, food environment, community life and sustainable mobility.
